    Default 7/28 Perch

We went out perching for the first time this year. Two of us got 56 perch today south of Green Island before the storms moved in. It wasn’t fast but it was steady enough of a pick that we didn’t want to move. We were using emerald shiners from Jeanette’s and they worked best when we cut them in half. Hope this helps and good luck out there!

I fish with two lines and I like to try different setups to see what is working. Yesterday, I used a crappie rig on one line and a perch fly rig on the other. Both rigs had two hooks so I used half a minnow on one hook and a full minnow on the other. The type of rig didn’t seem to matter but they were taking the half minnows more often than the full. After about an hour I switched to using only half minnows. I think it just depends on the day and the size of minnows you’re using.
