Re: Fishing reports
It is true, some new poster are still learning how to post a good report. Most reports need the area fished, depth of water, type of fish caught and any firing range cans (Camp Perry) reefs and any other markers to help get you to the spot. And what type of lure, bait, color and anything else to describe your successful trip. Be patient with others while they learn how to do this so this community can educate and grow the next generation of fisher people.

Re: Fishing reports
Unfortunately their are some people that expect the rest to catch the fish, clean them and put them in their freezer for them ! Been that way as long as I have been on the lake and that is well over 60 years. You learn to tune those types out of your mind...

Re: Fishing reports
In my (admittedly limited) experience, the fish don't stay at the same waypoint from one hour to the next, much less from day to day or week to week. In fact, some people fishing right next to me get a fast limit while I'm out there all day, and vice versa. There are a lot more variables than GPS numbers. Even if every last detail were posted here, who could replicate it at a later date? To be a fisherman is to learn the lake and the target species and your equipment and respond to conditions on the fly. And that's where the posts here are so valuable. Keep those reports coming!

Re: Fishing reports
In my experience, especially this season, there are fish almost everywhere in the areas memtioned in a lot of the reports on this and other sites. For example, I fished out of Port Clinton earlier in June. Reports were that fish were being caught North of Kelly's Shoal. I went up there, saw charter boats, and began fishing in that general area, on the line. I caught limits in that area the next three days. The area I fished was probably 9 square miles, along the state line east and west and and north and south. I went to Huron in mid-June and based on report, fished 40-45 fow between Huron and Vermillion. Caught quick limits all three days of great quality fish. Our trolls were 4-5 miles long and we caught fish all over the place. The idea that the fish are only in a very small area is is nor accurate. All anybody needs most days is a general direction to go, FOW is helpful and whether the fish are on the bottom or mid way up in the water column. This saves a lot of time. Juls reports are great.
I talked to a buddy yesterday who fished North of Kelly's Shoal yesterday. He got a limit very quickly. The fish are still there a month after I fished that area. It may be an unusual year, but, the idea that the fish are isolated to a few small areas is, as I previously stated, just wrong. I talked to an Ohio DNR female worker at the fish cleaning facility at Mazurick's a couple weeks ago. They estimate there are 89 million walleyes in Lake Erie. They may not be biting all day, every day, but they are out there.Last edited by addaline; Yesterday at 07:13 AM. Reason: more info

Re: Fishing reports
Lake Erie is on fire now You can catch fish anywhere from western basin to Ashtabula. You could put a hook on a spoon and catch walleye now.Dont need reports to include exact locations. My buddy went out with his 3 yr old grandson last Saturday hoping to maybe catch a sheepshead close to their lake house.Went over in front of gem beach in 19 for and put out 4 dipseys.Caught 5 keeper walleye in little over 40 min.So the fish are literally everywhere.

Re: Fishing reports
Ok, sounds like a troller post, (not everyone is a troller) However when you get on the Yellow Gold it is a different story, I have fished the same area , in the past, I have 5 days straight IN THE PAST ,I got my limit 5 days in a row in 2 -3 hours, so if you are not a troller you know that the area is very important , I do post exact location (of my honey hole) Post as much as you can when you can to the extent that you can, what I was using, bling or no bling, depth of water, and others in the area. THAT IS HOW YOU GROW A COMMUNITY OF FISHER PEOPLE!
Tight lips do not educate a community , but loose lips do educate and grow a fisher person community.
Keep that in mind when you post your results (or not), and do share like Jules does, she can put you in the area and the rest is up to you.
And be safe, use your life jacket,
