I have 4 rods now all 6' or 6'-6" ugly sticks with medium flex and 6-14 pound line rated. I use these for casting, perching and trolling.

By trolling I'm using them to "flatline" off the corners. This means the rod is in a holder at each corner and straight out back. No board or circle diver. I can use 40 jets with harnesses or spoons with them and I do quite a bit in the WB. I can also use 8oz. bottom bouncers with spoons or harnesses. I can use stickbaits, (reef runners, bandits, hot n tots) off these rods too. The key is to not get the trolling baits tangled with each other. Watch your turns, don't let line under the motor or boat. Use different lengths like one back 60 feet and another back 80 feet. One may have a bottom bouncer and the other a jet40.

Many times we may flatline troll 2-2.8 mph looking for fish kind of down wind. When we find them go through them with a troll. If we catch walleye, move upwind and try to go over them again. Mark walleye caught on gps, Navionics is great, when you stop seeing fish on screen upwind, turn boat to drift back through the school. Hopefully. Catch a bunch drifting then.

I also have other casting rods so we usually keep the trolling set up for a move later. But they are not difficult to rerig for casting.
