Hey there fenceman, I boat out of Port Clinton. There is a transition that usually happens around the 20th of May (give or take) when the big females wake up from their post spawn slumber and go on a heavy feed. Also, the eyes start eating worms rather than shiners. May is bar none my favorite time to fish. Every method of fishing is effective. When the lake surface temperature reaches 62 degrees, the eyes go crazy.
