Fall walleye
Where are the area's to troll and at what water temperature do the walleye turn on before winter set's in. I know they are deep right now. Will they return back up around the island's like they do in the spring. What month would it be.

Re: Fall walleye
We have done well casting for walleye on the reefs starting around the 2nd thru 3rd week in September. The water temp starts cooling off starting first thru second week of September. We would target KI shoal,Gull and east side of Pelee.

Re: Fall walleye
We would cast weapons.Gold #4 Colorado blade and sinker weight varies by depth you are casting in.Braid recommended due to snags and the increased sensitivity helps distinguish between fish or bottom.

Re: Fall walleye
Any weight forward worm rig will work casting on the reefs. There are always resident fish hanging out east of Kellies in the deeper water. As the water cools in the fall more fish move east and stage off Vermilion to Kellies in the fall. The timing varies from year to year, of when and where the better fishing is going to be though.

Re: Fall walleye
I read that there is a sandbar out there between Vermilion and Huron they like to sit and feed on shad or anything else that gets in there way. I know about the walleye Bonanza at the pier in the fall. I just wasn't sure if the trolling picked up in and around the island area.

Re: Fall walleye
I misspoke, the fish move west as water cools. The fishing gets better around the islands in the fall also.Just a little later than Huron area.By November the bigger fish are back and you can have some great days fishing.
