Jerk bait for dipsy
Another question. What jerk bait do you all use with dipsy. Is color the same and I would imagine you don't want it to dive. What are your favorites.

We use small YoZuri’s you don’t want anything that dives.

I have success with Rapala floating minnows of various sizes in your typical colors of gold/black back, chrome/blue back, etc.

I have some newer 4.75 rapala husky jerks that should work out fine. I also have some older rapala's I'm painting the wonder bread color and the blue and orange. Bought some oil based paint at the hobby store. Just hope the added weight doesn't throw it off. we shall see. Thanks for the help.

We pull all kinds behind Dipsy's... shallow cranks, stick baits, even deep bandits sometimes. All will work behind the bigger Dipsy, size 0 I think...
Jointed Rapalas, like J7's and J9's, and the jointed Flickr Shads are some of my favorites. Also, Strike King Walleye Elite KVD 300 works well also. Colors change day to day...Capt. Eric Litton

I wondered the same thing. I know a lot of people use them. But it's hard to find a stick bait that doesn't dive down some. Lot of guys use worm harnesses. I don't think I would run a deep plug.

I have read where guys use the Smithwick Pefect 10 behind dipseys. They have small lips and dont dive much. There are other shallow running cranks you can also use.Capt Eric says he sometimes run deeper running cranks behind dipseys. So it can be done, but you have to be extra carefull you dont tangle due to the crank pulling down on that dipsey.
