How far from A can?

Hard to say. Maybe 1/2 mile? We were well below the main pack which was a ways north of us and I assume west of A. Other boats were widely scattered a few east of us and a few even below us. Don't think you can go wrong anywhere there... more important to find a hungry pod and get above some good marks. We were pretty much by ourselves.
