Thanks for the pics and update. What advice can you offer for a fisherman new to western Lake Erie? We've spent our years fishing Ontario and Saginaw bay. Wondering what tactical changes we should plan for when fishing Erie in April. Trying to get a feel for the April timeline, depths, and lures. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Trolling: April fishing is primarily a crank bait bite. go to lures are: Reef Runners, Deep husky Jerks, Bandit walleye deep. once the water warms up to 50 degrees worm harnesses start to produce. Areas to start at are in and around the Camp Perry firing range buoy lines, key is finding and marking fish. I hate blind trolling. Fish are always on the move this time of year!
Jigging this time of year is good on all the reefs in side the the firing range can. lots of males will stay on the reef when the females have long been gone. casting hair jigs bare or tipped with minnows will produce. color of jig changes day to day. local tackle shops have tons of them.Top Flight Sport Fishing

When I first saw the pics from this trip I thought how cool dad and his daughters. Then I quickly day dreamed about when I was a little boy around that age fishing with my dad and grandpa. Then I watched the video, my day dreaming quickly switch to a future trip with my own kids ( who are 3 and 1 ). Hoping life allows me to grant my kid the same chances to fish with their dad and gramps as I had.
How do a child in that age rang reeling fish that could quite easily be fish of a lifetime they can't keep it.
I know I have fish erie for approx 20 years now and I have never pulled in a 13 pounder.
Not only will the kids remember the trip, so will dad, the capt and the mate. Great memories all around
