With our 30 foot Sportcrafts we have 4-6 feet of chain on the anchor and I rarely have hook issues unless is very rocky and rough. In mud with 3-4 feet wave it digs right in. Some people dont use the right type of line and its important to get line that stretches plenty for the shock of the pull from wind and wave.

I do not have a section of chain. Makes perfect sense though. Also someone mentioned to use more line so anchor lays sideways more.
    Like I said.... Rookie here.

I fished about the middle point between PIB, M. Bass, and Rattlesnake. Was just drifting too fast.

Hints are greatly appreciated to fill the cooler.
We had no live shiners only frozen.

    Smile perch helpfull hints

first of all put aleast 4 ft. of chain between your anchor and rope, let aleast two times the depth of water your fishing, look for s group of percher, first look for the fisherman that are standing and waving there arms, they are on fish, get in group
but don't crowd your way in, perch this year are on bottom, let line to bottom with slack line, count to five or ten and slowly
with your wrist raise rod, if you feel weight, gently reel in
most perch are lip hooked, light guage spreaders, crappie rigs,
skipper 9 rigs, single hook rigs all work well, light sinker, up to 1 oz. in big waves. double hook your minnows, if you still
can't get them, try walk on in port clirion, call skipper 9 in your end, or reel sport charters in western end, one time is all you need to learn. Capt. Mike and Wayne Reel Sport charters

All makes perfect sense. I will be doctoring the anchor up this weekend since the weather looks dim. I had looked at a charter for Saturday but the weather thing has me spooked.
Thanks for the hints. Not too sure what the other lures besides the spreader but I will research them.
