Yeah your in a great area and you can go to the leeward side if weather becomes inclement. You can also fish for smallies on rock piles close to shore where there are decent drop offs after you have your fill of walleyes. The islands are known as one the best smallmouth fisheries in the USA. Make sure you get a good map of the island area for safety purposes. There are some shoals that like lower units and you need to know where they are, especially running at night. i.e. northwest of south bass & east of north tip of middle bass has a shallow reef. As far as purple hair jigs. Every boat has them or wish they had. But as in any lure the color this year could be green, red, pink, white, etc-- who knows yet. Last year Purple was tough to beat, but there were days when another color did out produce. It depends on water clarity which changes every day. Put your mind at rest and follow the posts. Everyone seems to be honest on this site and wants to share thier successes to benefit others. There are soo many walleyes out there that we cannot hurt the population. Heck I've shared so much I might have to rethink if I want to take as many bets. We bet on first, most, biggest, and fastest limit caught. Our record is 5 fisherman--8 minute full box. Done--now what? Overall record is 250 walleyes in 3 hours w/ 4 fisherman. We even stopped to drink a beverage and have a sandwich.
