windlass fuse

I got a windlass on ebay and had to get the switch and solenoid separate. My question is what size fuss should i use and can i go from fuse block or go straight off of the battery? Its a Horizon 600 windlass.

Here is a link to the owners manual. You will have to open the .pdf file to see the manual. On page 12 it calls for a 50 amp breaker and the diagram shows it wired directly to the battery.
