I use 20lb knot-table cable it will last longer one of my post has picture of them
You can use #20 test, I've used #30 coated multi strand which is the same dia as #17 but they have kinked for me and I just prefer to use #17 mono as I have alot, that's what's on all my trolling reels. The only problem you should run into would be there are alot of harness hooks where the eyelet is too small to run even #17 test thru for snelling. I switched the hooks I use and now have no problem, I just have alot of hooks I'm giving away as you can not get the mono thru 2 times thru the eyelet.
I can only hope I have earned the freedom that has been given me.
30# coated 7 strand wire 1/0 Mustad Beak Hook #92553 #3 Crimp sleave #3 folded clevis and beads and blades of your choice. Thats all I ever use.

I use 20lb to 30lb flouro leader material. leader material is made different from casting flouro or mono. leader flouro is extruded so that it stays straight and stiff that way if gets damaged by a walleyes teeth etc, it will still maintain some of it's strenght. It also helps on durability. leader flouro will outlast mono or casting flouro.
