There is no one ideal speed. Generally earlier in the year when the water is cold speeds will be slower say 1.0 to 1.3. As the water warms speed will increase to as fast as 2.5. If you are on fish try varying your speed until you find what they want. Cranks and spoons can be pulled faster than harnesses. Harnesses with Colorado blades have to be pulled slower....willow leaf blades can go faster. Lots of variables.

1.8-2.2 MPH for dipsy's I'll be there Fri-Sat trying out my new homemade wobble harness along with unbrella rigs with three spoons attached give me a shout.Light purple color worked good last week.
i have been doing pretty good running 1.8 to 2.0 in the summer. i run willows and colorados and spoons. i may be running alittle fast for the colorados tho.

For me I'd say different speeds between RR and dipsy's. Slower for the RR and 1.8 up to 3+ for large dipsy's. Doing slow "S" turns while trolling will help you figure out if they want it faster or slower. Inside goes slower on a turn, outside goes faster on a slow turn.
