John Deere green hair jigs were the winner.
Thank You for the update!
My first shake down run today.
Got 2 of these hogs!
More wind was there pushing me faster , however
managed two keepers 17" and one short, 15 or so but too much of a stretch for this dog.
This Dog is off the porch, and hope to report more info soon.
Thanks again for your update!

That's a meal. The jig bite in front of portage is as usual. Pretty steady when you have a breeze to cover ground. They are scattered in 15-17 for. Good bite early then you get the lunch crowd from 1130-1. Patience is a must. They are fat and healthy.
Gut pile report on those two 17 inch keeper walleye, nothing in the gut.
They were males , so usually when I catch them they like to squirt in April. So I thought maybe they were females, but no they are males. So is this normal or just a little early due to the weather and conditions ?
Any thoughts on this mater?

All the fish we caught except for 1 were males. Most were milking. Water temperature was only 44-35 degrees which I thought was a few under the norm?
That's 44-45 degrees
Another great day on the lake. Got my limit FISHING with jigs!!!! John Deere green 2 miles out of portage. There was a big bowl of clean water between H and Camp perry. Really nice fish. The dog needs to get out there
