Default Cleaning Fishing Rods & Reels

Thought I would start a thread that may provide some people some help.

What do you use to clean your fishing rods and reels from minnow scales and worm guts and blood?

    Default scales

Thats the truth, I tried once....but now I leave them scaley. It makes the gear look like there never put to rest or good fishing....When I did clean them, I used warm/hot water w/ little dish detergent, with alot of finger nail scrapping.
