Senator Patrick Gallivan has introduced
Bill # S7005
which classifies a crossbow.
Please Call and Write your Senator asking they support S7005
What is in S7005
Classifies Crossbows as a bow, requiring the Bow Privilege instead of the Muzzleloader Privilege
Eliminates the 200 lb maximum draw weight restriction
Eliminates the 17' minimum width restriction
Aligns the minimum age for crossbow use with other archery equipment. Allows 12 & 13 year old's to hunt big and small game with a crossbow
Permits crossbows at the same 150' setback as all other bows
Permits Bowfishing with crossbows
Allows anyone wishing to, to use a Draw Lock Device without need for a permit
Removes the restriction on minors and their mentors using a crossbow to hunt from the ground
Allows Crossbows to be used during the entire archery season in all archery areas except for Suffolk and Westchester Counties and the Archery only areas of Albany and Monroe Counties.
The bill does not address the exclusion of crossbows on Long Island or Westchester or the archery only areas of Albany and Monroe Counties. To our members in these areas, we still believe those areas should be included and we will continue to pursue that, but we can not do it alone. We need everyone to contact your legislators and request your county be included in this bill.

Here is a pretty simple example to relay to your Senate person.---Please support this bill, S7005, which simplifies and recognizes and respects that bow hunters should be free to choose any type of bow that is best for their personal physical abilities and preferences to hunt with.
This bill fixes all of the issues that currently complicate and restrict my archery activities.
Thank you.

Assembly Bill A9623 has been introduced by Assemblywoman Gunther. WE now have same bills in both houses with the Gallivan Bill S7005.
We need to make phone calls to your respective legislators TODAY. Word is the opposition is already ramping up their phone banks. Do not sit on the sidelines if you want to end the discrimination against crossbows.
Write a letter, send an email AND Call your Assembly member and Senator.

They're gonna do whatever they want regardless of what we say. Look at our deer season changes. They asked for our opinions. Ignored all of them and did what they had originally planned in the first place.

In all the years of being on this page no one has questioned or complained about what's posted. We are not all just fishermen most are hunters also. Through the years most have become friends thru this page, I basically meant move on skip it , get over it. As sportsman it's great info to put out there for all to utilize and ensure everyone can enjoy the outdoors. More than likely I would guess he's anti crossbow and thinks archery should be by bow only . If I'm wrong so be it.
