Ipilot used as a autopilot?
I have heard the Ipilot can be used in conjunction with a kicker motor as a autopilot? If anyone is doing this, chime in and enlighten me please. Also I heard it can be integrated with a GPS chart plotter?? hmmm
Any input?

When I use it that way, I use the kicker for propulsion and the Terrova's ipilot for keeping me on course.
Knock the TM speed down to 3, so it has enough power to make corrections fast enough, and use the kicker for speed.
I use the "legacy" compass instead of the "Advanced GPS", because the compass keeps a steadier course.Captain Julia "Juls" Davis

I’ll be on the ice a' Fishin’, down through a hole.
When the ice goes out and the days get hot
I’ll be out there a fishin’, in the same damn spot.

What are your thoughts on thrust? I think it probably depends on boat size, aluminum or glass (weight basically) and conditions.
I have bow mounted minn Kota 12v that came new on the boat in 2005, wonder if I can upgrade it?
What is Legacy compass? Is that a option?
I just need it to autopilot and hold a spot, the info on them is confusing

A better way to say how I use the auto-pilot function is that I use regular auto-pilot, not "ADVANCED" autopilot.
Go to page 50 & 52 in this IPilot owners manual, it explains the two types of auto-pilot that you can use.
The reason I use it that way ?... Just works better for me.

I use an "80" on my Starcraft 196, & it has plenty of power. If I was to buy a new one, the only difference I would make, I'd get the 72" shaft model that is available at Cabelas (for those really rough days on Erie).Last edited by B3B; 09-15-2014 at 12:42 AM.
