Bailey....I just looked at the web cam @ SP and it did not show much ice at all. I think your right, a couple weeks and we should be able to start searching for them tasty little critters. As long as we can get out of the marina.

Well I'm wondering how that sand bar is doing, because when I went out last year the week before thanksgiving and thanksgiving week it was really getting shallow. Hopefully the lake level has gone up some with our winter precipitation. I haven't launched yet out of catt will probably try that this year early on.

Last spring the sand bar seemed really bad. Someone on this board had said it was due to no ice on lake allowing more sand to be pushed up. More ice=less waves. Made sense to me. Hopefully we can get out before the dredging starts, if not it will have to be the Cat. Last year I had to dodge a few tree trunks getting out of there.

Got the small boat out this am. Put all the new regs. stickers on the boat & trailer plate, put air in tires (need new ones) maybe this week. Had both motors running, did a few other odds & ends, got her ready for perching erie or browns on lake O. Got the minnow tank set up, I am ready, Come on warm weather, good by ice!

Got boat ready today and took it to the river launch at foot of sheridan (tonawanda) just to back her in in and run motor for a bit, but due to all the debris at the dock there was no way to get it in the water. Guess I'll be hooking up the ears in the yard tomorrow. On a postive note....if your looking for minnows to salt for perch, there are a ton of them to be had. Two dips with net and I had more than I could put in a 5 gal. bucket. Anyone know how Sturgeon is looking for early season launch? I may take a ride during the week to see myself. I'll post a report if so.
