IMO boards are fine to use, when used with a little common sense.
Super heavy boat traffic in-tight, then leave them in the boat. Sparse to moderate traffic, go ahead use them a reasonable distance from the boat and with adequate lighting.
In general, when using boards be more defensive to avoid potential run-ins, and if possible stay just outside the pack edge (has a added benefit
).
A bigger problem than pulling boards at night is when everyone is trolling in different directions vs. an orderly set of trolling lines.

I was out sat night. Those couple guys pulling inline boards with glowsticks on them were making more work for themselves. Way to many boats and first timers out there sat. They barely had the boards 15ft off the boat. Rods out the side would have been just as effective.

Shorthanded, agreed 100%, right on the money about the night boards. We were out last night, pretty rough & we didn't get not 1 hit off the windmills. My buddie had 2 by 11:30 when we quit, he stayed don't know how he ended up.

At least some people are getting some fish. That's promising. Bailey how did you hear about Dunkirk? That's a long way from home for you.

copo i saw that guy, he was very clumsy and almost ran into a few boats trying to get away - hey its tough enough flat lining with all the boats but boards - you've got to be kidding and at night its even more difficult. if your going to do it - do it away from the pack
fish on aka rippin lips

Im hopin to get out tonight for a couple hrs. My coil went bad over the weekend and left me dead in the water both nights. I'm sure a couple of you saw me drifting away from the pack. But a new coil and upgrade to solid state ignition should do the trick. (now if the fed ex guy would hurry up and get here). I'll post my outcome in the morning if I get out tonight.
