Here is a link to our water temp reading. http://www.erh.noaa.gov/buf/laketemps/laketemps.php
I know and understand that. I've often wondered why all of lake Erie isn't closed to the spawn myself. Especially when a majoreity of the spawn takes pkace in the western half. My point of asking was know how for through the spawn they are compared to us. The water is not usually this warm already. Making me think the fish will be well into postspawn and moved deeper here by next week is all. We all know that fish spawn according to water temp. (Walleye between 40til 45) not by the month or day. I'm not trying to argue in any way, just gathering as much info as I can.

Believe me im not either I was just venting my frustration with the whole system not closing. Our spawn is under way from I heard, I talked to a few guys that caught a few spawned out females in a few of the creeks looking for steelheads.

I think this cold snap for sure has slowed things down a bit but warmer temps on the way i will be out second weekend if all goes well. I have an appointment with TOM opening weekend in the mountains at camp. After that its time for eyes but i may give the local river a few casts next sat night. I think this Sunday i may try to tangle with the kings one more time also. Those of you who regularly fish night bite does ot get better as night goes on or at dusk on erie. I usually wait for day bite but got the itch to try something new on erie.

The water temp is 48 degrees were running smith wick rogues 35 to 38 back on in line boards speed 1.4.1.6 depth on rogues are about two feet in water running minkota 101 pd thrust boards are very wide from boat.
one thing i have always noticed is when the jig bite comes to the end u still have a good three weeks to catch fish at nite. not saying u cant catch fish later in the year at nite. we always start with rogues then go to husky jerks and then finish with 700 series reef runners. all our fish are coming form water from 7 to 10 ft of water good luck boys any thing i can do to help just ask.
