What's your water temp at that end? Are you still hitting them shallow?

Copo, our season in still closed, it opens the first Saturday in May if Ny does anything smart is is closing our season from 3/15-the first Saturday in may. I wish all of the Lk. Erie states and provences closed the season during the spawn. Ok enough ranting, our temp. is 46° taken 30' down at the Buffalo water intake. Our day bite will start in late May or early June. Here is a link to our water temp reading. http://www.erh.noaa.gov/buf/laketemps/laketemps.php

I know and understand that. I've often wondered why all of lake Erie isn't closed to the spawn myself. Especially when a majoreity of the spawn takes pkace in the western half. My point of asking was know how for through the spawn they are compared to us. The water is not usually this warm already. Making me think the fish will be well into postspawn and moved deeper here by next week is all. We all know that fish spawn according to water temp. (Walleye between 40til 45) not by the month or day. I'm not trying to argue in any way, just gathering as much info as I can.

Believe me im not either I was just venting my frustration with the whole system not closing. Our spawn is under way from I heard, I talked to a few guys that caught a few spawned out females in a few of the creeks looking for steelheads.

I think this cold snap for sure has slowed things down a bit but warmer temps on the way i will be out second weekend if all goes well. I have an appointment with TOM opening weekend in the mountains at camp. After that its time for eyes but i may give the local river a few casts next sat night. I think this Sunday i may try to tangle with the kings one more time also. Those of you who regularly fish night bite does ot get better as night goes on or at dusk on erie. I usually wait for day bite but got the itch to try something new on erie.

It is ABSOLUTLY NOT TRUE the DEC just started the comment period on the limit change. If it gets passed (and it should) it will start on October 1st 2012 at the begining of the new license year. That was one of the things they talked about at The State Of The Lake Meeting last month.
