Hey guys, Need some advice... Tried to help a neighbor kid and paid him to wash up the boat this spring. Unfortunately I guess I wasn't "clear" enough on my instructions. He took a scotch brite pad and scrubbed the hull, cutting into the gel coat. The luster is blotchy and I'm worried we've done some damage. Is there a product you guys are aware of that I could apply to the hull to restore the situation or am I looking at a new paint job?

Also, going out perching tomorrow and will post how I do.

Find somebody good with a buffing wheel and start working it I'd guess.

I have an older Grady White. I use the Collinite polishes, cleaners and waxes for fiberglass. Good results and long lasting. One other product I use to bring back the depth in contrasting DARK colors on my boat is Flood Penetrol. http://www.amazon.com/Flood-Penetrol...flood+floetrol It is an additive used in spraying oil base or latex paints. Helps paint to flow and lay flat. Easy on by just wiping but use sparingly because it needs elbow grease coming off. One application and it lasts all season.

Lineman49 is half right Kishels is a fish scent and attractant and it does work quite well I'll add . I used it my first time 3 yrs ago and did my own playing around with it like using it on one side of the boat rigged identically to the other and perch fishing I used it on the boat when no one else did and caught perch like crazy while the others didn't . I'll admit there are days fish will aggressively strike but when the bite is tough I'll out fish most using the Kishels on my baits . It only takes a little bit I use a couple drops on the bait that's it. I've used it casting with equal results but the fact I'm more into trolling it really works great For me in that application. The people I know who also always fish using the fish scent also tend to have higher catch rates. It just adds that extra edge. Without the broken legs though. LOL.

3M makes a really good product for restoring shin to the gel coat, West Marine has it. Can't remember the exact name. Restore? Anyway mine was really chalked bought a GOOD buffer and some GOOD pads and lots of elbow--- looks like new than some good wax. Not sure how it does on scratches. I'd go to west marine and see, they have about anything you need, but it's lots of rubbing.

We got 8 on Friday in 4 hours off Smokes Creek. All on harnesses. In line weights and bouncers. 1.5 mph in 35 FOW. Largest was 5 pounds. I pulled a goby finish stickbait all morning without a strike. My theory is to get away from the pack of boats. Using my electric trolling motor. Are all those boats and kickers making fish skitish? Same thing on Sunday (10). Most fish came when we were well away from other boats. This is something I have not seen discussed here.

You're on the money in my opinion. One of the reasons I seldom go up to Buffalo on a weekend.. unless they are deep and a really hot bite. I've never had any luck on a goby imitation for walleye... but I'm not as experienced as most on this site either. In the absence of a hot tip I almost always run silver/black/white or purple/black renoskys as a staple and adjust from there.
