Closing the foot of Ferry for about a year !!

    Bummer...
When the cold winds blow and we're covered up in snow,
I’ll be on the ice a' Fishin’, down through a hole.
When the ice goes out and the days get hot
I’ll be out there a fishin’, in the same damn spot.

They said you can walk on from the north end walking bridge. Don't know how much of a hassle that would be.

They're repairing the bridge, and because of navigation laws, it must be in the up position to allow boat traffic to be able to pass.

That would be a LONG & SMELLY walk from the north end....
I wonder if they will allow you to drive on from the north end?
They would have maintenance trucks, and workers for the sanitation buildings driving on (I would think).

This is a picture of the north bridge. It looks like a road on the south side of the bridge....

BUFFALO, N.Y.- State, Federal and City officials were at the Ferry Street bridge Wednesday to announce the start of a nearly $8 million project to fix the 100-year-old bridge.

The renovations to the bridge, which connects Buffalo's West Side with Squaw Island, would improve pedestrian walkways and give the bridge a fresh coat of paint.

"The Ferry Street Bridge is a bridge that's considered to be, or designated to be structurally deficient. There are about 99 bridges in Western New York that are structurally deficient, meaning that they need immediate attention. So it's good that this project is moving forward, but it's also an urgent reminder of all the work we still need to do," Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-D) said.

Construction on the bridge will last through the end of next summer, which means visitors will only be able to access the island through the north side.

Sqauw island park is there. You can drive across that bridge to access it. Should be a few spots to net minnows. Under the rr bridge. And where the pin is both sides. Attachment 1933

I drove across that bridge last year. Boy, it was narrow. I don't know if two cars can drive across it at the same time crossing each other. ????
