    Guys,

New to Lake Erie. Most of my experience is with Salmon on Lake Michigan. Wondering if you guys have some advice on where to start. Its a big lake and any help is appreciated.

I spent the morning (6:30 AM to Noon) bottom bouncing in front of Smokes Creek/Windmill area. Boated 5 Walleyes and 2 Perch. Water was off color from recent rain/wind and wind was out of the North. Nice drift early but by midday it was too slow for my liking. The fish were in the off color water and I used Chartreuse harnesses for a little more visibility. 37 fow was my best depth but I did get 2 between 35 fow and 36 fow. Surface water temp. 62*.

Most likely Sturgeon Point, but can trailer to almost anyplace. Based on todays post it sounds like worm harnesses, but we have a lot of luck in WI slow trolling flicker shads year round. Do those work here at all? Could also do a ride along if you need some help or extra lines....i would pick up gas. Spent 10 years fishing lake michigan and it took 5 to figure it out, would like to quicken the learning curve.

Harnesses catch the most fish. And stickbaits catch the biggest from my personal experience. Colors vary. Riggers, dipsys, jets, torpedoes, and leadcore. Are just about nessesities when the eyes suspend and head to deeper water. Buffalo water is good now. Watch this thread for reports. Once the lake warms up. The fish head west to deeper water. Then sp and down are better.
Night trolling the outer breakwalls usually produce smaller eyes all summer. You'll almost always see boats trolling there every night weather permitting. Get yourself a good topo map of the eastern lake. One with GPS cords on it for stuff like Seneca, waverly, Woodlawn are better yet. Great bunch of guys on this board. Lots of info shared between us. Plus we're all pretty much local so it's nice to meet up with each other. This is one of the better forums I belong to. Definatly the funnest and most easy going. Ill post my report if I get out tomorrow. I'd love to blow off work and go all day. But can't afford it right now. Damn I hate being a slave to the man!!!!
