Are you referring the hump to the drop off outside the south gap? Also anyone been out of sbh? What's been caught?

Default Fishing & Time with various techniques

I did not get out, and I finally winterized the boat on Friday. This was a long, good season!

In one of the In Fisherman books, Al Linder says that he spends 50% of his fishing time jigging, 25% "precision" fishing with bouncers (short line, rod-in-hand), and the other 25% with all other techniques (Lindy rigging, trolling/casting cranks, etc.). I am sure that this is partly due to Minnesota's restrictions for 1 rod/angler (at the time that the book was written).

I am curious - How does everyone here spend their time walleye fishing? I am trolling worm harnesses ~70% of the time (most often multiple rods with bottom bouncers), trolling crankbaits 20% of the time, and ~10% of my time spent on everything else (jigging in the spring, etc.).

What do all of you do??

I spend 99.9 % if the time trolling. 75% of the time with worm harnesses. I use some plugs and spoons. I need to get out more. Work consumes way too much time. I plan to do more bottom bouncing next year. I don't use lead core but from what i hear it's been productive. I'm going to look into getting a lead core rod & reel. I'll have to see what fishkiller will be selling come spring.

They won't go away til that person is banned snd this sight starts getting monitered better. I pm'd walleye Rick about it and am waiting his reply. Unfortunately this person has plastered the entire site and one member told his 8 yr old daughter on to read fishing reports and she saw porn. Not cool.

Otherwise I never did make it out T day. Got up in the morning and called my uncle and he decided to change his mind and not wanna go anymore.(Typical for him. he blew me off most of spring then wined when i came back with a bunch of fish) So I winterized the boat. Hard to find a fishing buddy replacement on thanksgiving lol

Personally my favorite way to fish eyes is jigging. Ill jig throughout the spring, then once they move deeper ill troll.
Jigging eyes requires a sensitive rod and a good feel for the difference between fish and bottom. This spring I out fished my friend standing right next to me using the same jig. He just didn't have the feel. It got to the point that he put his rod down and just netted fish for me. A friend of the family does better than me. He uses a different jig approach. 1/4oz white jig head with a whole crawler on it. He just lets it kinda swim through the water. He limits out as does his kids in their boat almost everytime he goes out. I added a number 6 octopus red hook to the end of the crawler and increased my catch rate by 50%. I trolled during the spring for years until I decided to jig.
