Ashtabula Walleye Small Boat 7-18-20
at both 50 and 59 FOW there are a lot of bait fish
started at 8:30 A.M. 50 FOW West at 2.5 MPH using 3 1/2 flutter spoons 3 oz weights
first 45 minutes 3 drums 23 25 26 it is still fun to fight a drum
second 45 minutes 3 walleye 10 11 16 all released
headed North deeper water
third 45 minutes 3 walleye 9 11 19 kept 19
then smalls for 3 straight hours
1:00 - 4:00 slow as usual 7 12 20 kept 20
4:00 - 7:00 used spoons jumbo crankbaits 3 oz weight and bandits 1 oz weight
15 17 20 21 25 16 drum and smalls kept 17 20 21 25
on the day 26 fish caught
4 drums
14 walleye 7" - 13"
8 walleye 15" - 25"
I only keep 17 " or bigger there is not enough meat on a 15"
all large walleye caught 63 - 68 FOW
there are more fish than there were in May or June
the prime times are always sunrise - 1:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M. - dark
I have not fished after dark
