Default First time fishing central basin, need advice

This is my first year fishing erie. Had boat docked at Lakeside Marblehead, but now want to move east. I have never fished east of Cedar Point, so this will all be new to me. Heading out Wednesday July 13. Any advice on where to launch and fish, is greatly appreciated. Looking for walleye, not perch.

Check this post for a map of our fishing spots in the Central Basin > http://community.walleye.com/showthr...ilion-Sat-6-26
At this time of the year it may be best to launch out of Hot Water's Marina, Lorain.
That would put you close to the Lorain Dumping Grounds which are currently producing keeper Walleye among the many under size ones that are being caught.

Thanks for the info Roy. Will check out mapquest to find Hot Water Marina. I've heard a lot about Ashtabula, is it too early to go that far east?

bula Geneva and conny are usually good places to fish this time of yr. but its been a little late getting started this yr. but they are catching some fish in close but the big schools that's usually there hasn't made it that far east. but that could change at any time as the fishing is getting better. I have a trip planned for the 15th through the 18th to Geneva. just hope the fish are there.

Fished Lorain today (see post Lorain 7/13). Likely hit Ashtabula this weekend. Any suggestions on where to launch?
