Ready soon
Been workin' on getting the boat all re-done and ready for the season.
Anybody fishing out of Avon/Lorain areas yet? Any luck?

We've been picking up quite a few perch (8-10 inches mostly) in 40-45 FOW directly out of Miller Rd launch in Avon Lake. Head maybe 1/2 mile east from the launch, and you should be good (if you are looking for perch that is).

Avon Perch
That would be in the neighborhood of the shipwreck buoy?
I'm still struggling with the painting on the boat. Terrible finish so it's getting sanded down again (for the third time), and I'll see if I can get an acceptable finish this time.
Otherewise, antsy to get in the water.
thanks for responding

Quick update...went out yesterday afternoon (5/23). Pretty much straight off of Rt 83, 36-38 FOW and picked up 30 again...including 1 that measured 12"+...a good 15 that were 10"+ as well.

Good news
That's good news that you're gettin' 'em now off Avon point. I put the last coat of paint on the boat today, and tomorrow, will paint the bootstripe and then some bottom paint touchup.
Then, all I have left is to mount the outboard, check it all out, and be ready to go in about 3 days, I hope.
Leave some perch out there for me, will ya ?

Assuming minnows can be had right up the road at John's bait and tackle? Or is there a better place to get bait around there? Planning to give it a try Thursday morning.

Bait shops
The other place I go is Jim's, in the shopping center opposite the Avon Lake Power Plant. I don't know what minnow availability is right now, though.

Bait Shops
I see this is an older thread at this point, but just west of the Miller Launch is Erie Outfitters (about 1/2 mile on south side of Lake Rd)...great shop, great info...usually has bait as well. I've only been in there once when he was out of shiners. They pretty much carry everything you could need in there.

Touching Base
@Powrguy...haven't posted since back in May on the perch...how did the boat turn out? I know you were planning on having her ready around the end of May...
