Great Lakes Boat
I fish Lake Erie out of Walnut Creek. Three years ago I purchased a 22' Hydra-Sport WA. I am now looking to upgrade. Would like a little longer and wider - fished last weekend 7/5-7/6 in 3' - 5' waves and was beat up. I live in central PA and when I make the run I want to fish. Friends recommended I move up to a Grady White or a Sportcraft. Any thoughts?

I too have been looking this year for an upgrade. Doing my homework here on the net and find the 2 you mention are very popular.

Hi Shed, sorry for the delayed response.
From what I'm learning Sportcraft might be top of the line for our kind of fishing. Cuts trough chop very well and still stable fishing platform at drift or slow troll.
Grady's seems to be very nice too. I've been reading up on them and might ride a little rougher in the chop. But huge fishing space, back end of those are like a dance floor.24' Caravelle

No worries Skinny and I think you are right - leaning Sportcraft. My friend has a Parker on Lake Ontario, great boat, not quite sure about the pilot house set-up though. I hear the Grady's are solid, but not as smooth as the Sportcraft.
If I had more time and ambition I would consider redoing a Penn Yan, maybe someday.
