My plans for the spring is to change where my transducer is located, it now sits
nearly at the starboard corner and just to far from its centerline. My only question is just how far away from the engine. I have heard 12 to 18 ". The previous owner thought it was just right and it just never set with me.

I just purchased an airmar transom mount transducer and the installation instructions states.
The best place to mount any TM Transducer is on the starboard side as close to the center line as permitted by prop diameter. Meaning if the prop diameter extends X inches from the center line then the trans ducer should be mounted at least X inches+ 3 inches from the center line but not in line with any ribs or chines that would cause water turbulence to pass under the transducer.
I hope this helps you.Wakina

Thanks Wakina, I was pretty sure it was mounted wrong. I have only mounted one ff new about 12 years ago an a 16 ft'er. and between the two boats it sure was just not right. With the ever changing dynamics of ff'ers other things
could possibly change also.
