Stugon?
Well it was not a sturgon but it was also not an asian carp, sucker, smelt, shad, shiner, carp, quill back. I have fished Ohio waters for all of my 61 years and it had me stumped. Wish I had a picture of it. What ever it was it was healthy and released unharmed. I do not believe it was a foreign species. I seem to remember catching one 50 years ago fishing with my grandpa out of Luna Pier. I don't remember what he called it. Not even 100% sure it was the same.

How about a whitefish, cisco or maybe even a mooneye. Will try to get a pic up of those in the AM. Golden shiners get pretty good size also for a minnow species, but they are darker in color.

Here is some info on the 3 fish! It is from the Mn DNR but those same fish are native to lake Erie but are scarce. This site also has the better pictures. Search Google for more info if needed.

Sturgon?
It may have been a whitefish. Look a whole lot like that.
