    Smile perch

When I need to catch jumbo perch I will slip on a clear or pepper crappie size tube up the hook, and still tip with minnows,
sometimes it makes a real difference.

When I need to catch jumbos I just keep my wife's poles baited. Wayne can testify to that!

    Default ice method

Jiggin Rapala will work and I have caught them on small crappie size jigs also. Its hard to beat a live minnow near the bottom ! Minnows are one of the natural foods for perch along with other small bite size treats. I know what some will say, "we catch some while trolling spoons" , yep we do. If it looks good they may bite it, just take minnows so you dont waste a day and gas.

It might be cool to see if a Sabiki rig would work... they are great for catching saltwater bait fish, which are about the same size as a perch. Never tried it, but maybe.

I was up 4th of July weekend, decided to try making some cable leader harnesses. Well the wife decided she wanted to help. Go figure the one she made caught 90% of the fish the next day. Beginner's luck, women's intuition, call it whatever you want. She was insufferable the rest of the trip.
