Never ran the fish id on my hummingbird 788, maybe I should try that way, thanks a lot, hope that new boat has minnow scales all over it by noon !!!! Mike

I notice one thing with the screen shots posted. When I'm on perch (actively catching them) my marks are almost always right on the bottom up to maybe a couple feet up. Some on the screens here show fish from the bottom to almost 15' up from the bottom. Only time I tend to see that is if I'm into white perch or white bass. I notice they will tend to be higher off the bottom. Just my observation and experience.

You are correct! That is why so many experienced perch fishermen use 1oz or slightly larger weights. It gets the bait thru the junk faster with less time for them to locate and take your bait. Most perch are caught right on or almost on the bottom. In deeper water they are sometimes suspended a little off of the bottom.

I run 2oz weights to get to bottom, Trust me, the pic I showed is all perch........
300 today in 3hrs, NO Junk...................

That is fish, all perch and yes anyone can catch them there. Finding them like that is a different story.....
