Be careful if it was Gull Island Shoal it will get your lower unit, maybe more! There is a shallow spot on Kelly Shoal also but not near as many nor quite as shallow as Gull Island Shoal. Gull Island Shoal should have a skull and cross bones sign on it.

Both produce. I like to anchor in 12 foot of water and cast to shallower water. I like kelly island shoul better. I am sure that bite is already there but will get alot better on hot summer days. This is only my humble opinion

I am sorry I misread your post.

There was a charter Capt. who prided himself on the hogs he would catch at Gull Island Shoals. His boat was called the Headhunter and his name was Jerry Able. He used to dock at Channel Grove. He would sneak around those humps with an electric trolling motor mostly in the early morning before the fish moved off to deeper water. I am not sure what he had his customers casting as far as lures, but he would catch some huge eyes in that area. But he would only fish it with the right wind direction. So I know that area of skinny water around Gull Island Shoals produced some large fish in the time that I was at Channel Grove.
