    Default Crane Creek

Based upon Catawba ice deterioration the last 4 days (Friday-Tuesday) it may be best to give that area another week & half. If ya do? Please do not go alone & make sure someone has a flotation/survival suit & rope. Also they won't panic. Panic kills. Catawba should be a go again by Saturday. Good Luck & Good Fishing

Wondering if any one is going out of that area and if its possible to go with 4 wheelers going to try to go up wednesday or thursday to the lake that would be a shorter ride then catawba. Also is there a bait store close by to get shiners? Thanks

Bait? No! Place in Oak Harbor but have not been there yet this year???? Was out of Camp Perry yesterday. Ice was 7" till we got 3 miles out. Went to 4". Looked like fresh ice (no snow on it) & it's was smooth as glass. So? As far as Crane? Lets let this cold front work on it a little longer. Catawba ice is better, but always head due west (trail or not) 500-600 yards minimum before heading north. Stay away from point and shoreline along cliffs. Good luck & good fishing

Can you get access to lake off the beach at camp perry base? or east of fence? What depth did you get to? Any fish? Remembering slamming them out of there around 2003.

Yup. NE corner of Banquet Facility. No problem. A 10# & 2 jacks. Bite is first or last light 16-19 fow. 1.9 mi puts ya at 19 fow. Heads up! Do NOT go from line of access to end of pier towards shoreline. Sandbars and shitty ice due to shallow depths. Leave a smidge east & return from a smidge east to west. FYI. Gonna post that relevance next.

Last good MODIS image showed open water out past the shore ice. With relentless winds would be very careful.
