Typically this occurs when the line is let out to fast. Next time hold your thumb
on the spool and let the line out slowly.

Always let your dipseys out with the clicker on. If you don't, they will go out too fast & your leader will wrap around the dipsey & it won't allow the release. Just sayin'

Swivels?
I had this problem last year as well. I found that my generic gold colored snap swivels were not letting the leader spin as needed and it would twist up.
I switched to ball bearing swivels on the snubber end and no problems after that.
THey last a lot longer too... I have the same Cabelas brand ball bearing swivels on my trolling rods ever since. Well except for the one wrapped around my outdrive with my 30# braid... But that is another story. Now I dont even use a cheap swivel when fishing for Bluegill. All that is required for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.
