Don't pretend to know this one, but what I have heard is they come in for minnows. (Seems obvious they do follow food) That begs question, why are minnows there. I assume the minnows are moving out of the creeks as this years hatch of young grows in size, and the creeks are probably warming up and drying up too. Makes sense, but have never heard that confirmed by a biologist who would know, so put it in the urban rumor category, and I could be all wet on this one!
