I thought boating season was over
I saw four trailers at mazurik access today. I know others will disagree with me but the lake is just too dangerous this time of year to go out fishing.

Whattt...
Man....that puts a meaning too..."die hards". Think I'll try to wait till April, or mid March. Looks like we may have a little bit of a winter this year though...More time to re-string the nets

There have been several guys fishing when the lake is fit we were out the week before Christmas. Planning on going week after next if the channels don't freeze. If I do get out I will have fished a full 12 months, my first trip out last year was third week of Feb.

Yeah, when I was younger I used to fish year round, the years erie never froze and or the detroit river. Broke ice many many times getting out to open waters. Carried sand in the trucks so we could get back up the ramp after loading. Not anymore. I did my time
I can only hope I have earned the freedom that has been given me.

there were guys fishing erie all winter last year. if the water is open then your going to have people fishing.
i,ve seen guys on the ice fishing when i knew it wasnt safe. i watched this guy going out with a spud and he would hit the ice, if it broke through he would change directions and try it again. if it didnt brake he would take a couple of steps and do it again. he worked his way out about 100 yrds from shore doing this and then started fishing. the ice couldnt have been more than a couple of inches thick. some people just dont value there lives as much as others. i always wanted atleast 4 good inches and thicker was better.
