60 Yellow perch just south of Sugar Island in 30 fow using spreaders, minnows and no bling.
Started the day trying to catch walleye south of the NW reef.
Marked fish but no bite. Well except for a sheep or two.:eek:
Tried the trolling thing and too much grass.
So....went to my "Honey Hole" near Sugar Island and 60 perch.
17# pounds at the cleaners.

:DSaturday's perch report~ only had a few hours to fish.
~pack of boats just west of Catawba State Park ~ boat launch.
~Fish On~ did catch some white perch, white bass and a few sheep head.....but the Yellows did rule the day :p

a 12" Walleye, which was returned to the lake very gently.
I was just east of the buoy in 30 fow, using spreader and no bling.
~started fishing @ 8:45 and was done by 11:30.

went to "H" can and caught a bunch of sheep head~ waves were rolling 1-3 with a 4 every now and then.
They were not big enough to try the "poor mans shrimp" noted on the sheep head thread. But the sea gulls seem to like them.:rolleyes:
I did not have a lot of time to fish today but it was still fun.

I caught plenty of Gobies too, they were mixed in with the perch so I feed them to the sea gulls~ :D

Great job. Sounds like I needed to keep heading north. I tried 7-8 spots around Green and Rattlesnake islands today. I just couldn't get anything going. It was slim pickings. I probably caught 20, but only 6 that were big enough to keep.

Sunday was a "no perch for you day".
It happens.
Went to "G can" a lot of white perch, went to Niagara ~ 2 yellow perch, went to Green Island 5 yellow perch.
No sun and overcast ~ maybe that was it.
rumor has it not many did well.
Still like being on the lake.

~NICE DAY~ we started the day with about 15 white perch, some sheep head and then the yellows moved in.

Just east of "H" can in 17 fow, 8#'s at the cleaners, some sorting. Had to go fishing given the nice day that it was. Left work and was fishing by 12:30pm. Did do some sorting, and did catch a few white perch. Was done by 3pm.

Well, the "H" can did not do it for me today. Moved to deeper water and a no go. The lake was like glass. Really nice day on the lake.
About 10 throw backs.

caught my limit of walleye and went to the honey hole at "H" can, it is too early, no bites and not even a gobie~!
~they are shooten at camp perry so look out for the range rangers.....:D

That will be going on weekends for the next month and a half. Easter weekend will be clear. National Guard Units are doing weapons qualifications. Should slow down by June.
Caught really nice perch at H can on Sunday.
Spreaders, shiners, no bling and on the bottom.
Biggest was a 13 1/2 incher :D
Some sorting but not much.
A very soft bite, I had to watch the tip closely to get them set.
Windy to start the day with some big waves, then it settled down in the afternoon.
39 Perch ~ 15 pounds at the cleaners... yes they are nice.
The wind really pushed us around at times but it may have help with our spreaders and the big swing.
Spreaders, shiners, on the bottom and never any bling.
Anyway.... this looks to be my last day on the lake.
I have not been able to fish as much as I would have like because of a death in the family.
So until next year I hope you and yours will be safe and get ready for another season in the spring.

I am back~!
Fished Saturday with night crawlers..... could not get shiners.... H can, F can, D can..... 3 perch and a whole lota bugs.
Fished Sunday H can, nice day, some rain but the fish did not care, 30 perch in two hours and some sheep head, white perch and white bass and no bugs.
Perch 6 pounds at the cleaners, not huge but still big enough to eat.

Did you get shiners Sunday, or were those perch on night crawlers?
Fished h can Sunday got 43 decent perch in about 4 hours my guess crappie rigs and gold worked for me! :) pQuote:

Nice reports! waterdog, I am glad to see that you are active again keeping those perch in line and thinning their numbers. I sure have to agree those perch are funny critters, they may look small but they sure don't taste small.

Very nice catch. What water depth were you in?
18 lbs for 90 is 5 to a lb. Those fish look bigger than that...unless you put all the nice ones on top. Right now I would take a limit of most any size!
This year has been the pits for fishing weather wise, period! I say if you want some perch for the freezer or just a meal or 2 then you best take what the lake is willing to give you when you can get out fishing. Who knows what this algae situation is going to become.Quote:

Saw another post, A&J Bait had shiners, St Clair Bait, behind Wild Wings had em too, small scoops though.

5 pounds at the cleaners, only had two small scoup's of minnows and I ran out.
biggest perch was 12.5, very nice.
also caught a nice small mouth that was released, a 14.99 inch walleye, which was released, some white perch and a few big sheep head.
very bouncy in the am, was not the 1 foot or less they said.
I get my minnows at the Sunoco in Port Clinton, AJ's west of Port Clinton, or Shore Nuf at the draw bridge.
I was S.E. of H can in 18 fow, spreaders and no bling.

Friday 37 yellow perch and Saturday 12 yellow perch ~ tuff times ~ no shiners.
Did use some golden shiners, moved to deeper water north of "H" can to get out of the white perch.
Did manage to get some very small shiners, but they just don't stay on the hook all that good.
