Rookie looking for advice
After years of fishing with my brother I decided it was time to get my own fishing boat. I have four young boys (11,9,7,4) that love fishing. After just one day of catching Walleye in the Saginaw Bay they can’t wait for more. I have never fished Lake Erie and would appreciate any advice on where and how to fish for Walleye and/or Perch (or any fish for that matter). I live in the Plymouth/Livonia area so I thought Sterling State Park would be the easiest place to put in. My boat is 16.5’ Sea Nymph Fishing Machine so I doubt I will want to venture out too far.
Also appreciate any advice on gear that works best in this area. I have just the basics for trolling (trolling rods, rod holder, trolling plate) and realize I will need a few more rods, lures, etc.. Hoping to build this up over time.
I have plenty experience with boats and boating, however, it has been mostly inland lakes unless I am fishing with my brother on Saginaw Bay or Lake Michigan.
Thank you in advance for all of your help
