Lake Erie Smallmouth
Hey Guys- I know this is primarily a Walleye board, but is there anyone out there still fishing the islands for smallies? I fished the lake 8 years ago and caught so many smallmouths but then read a few years ago the smallie fishing has declined? any tourney fisherman out there to respond?

I dont realy thinks so, I do know the best time is sping and fall. I fished them in the spring and we had a blast. I have herd you can catch them in summer but you are fishing in deep water (35'-40') with a drop shot rig, but I have not tried that myself, we use tub jigs in the spring and fish 15' at most. But Im sure there out there and catchable, but its just knowing what to use and what structure they are on. good luck
