Mayfly Hatch
Was out yesterday in Bolles Harbor. As we moved around we saw Mayflies on the surface. Some brown, white, and gray. Anyone know whats with that? I thought they only hatched in late spring.

mayflies
I live within a block of the lake. There are early hatchers, there is the bulk of the main hatch, and then there are some that hatch late. I have one or two on my slider screen many mornings in the late summer/early fall.
I suppose a late(er) hatch would beget another late hatch the following year as these bugs lay their eggs on the water.
PS - I'm not an entomologist, nor do I play one on TV.

mayflies
PC, Makes sense to me. I was unaware of the flucuation of hatching. In Luna Pier when they hatch its like walking on rice krispies. Its a good thing though. Shows the lake is getting cleaner and cleaner. Went looking for soft bottoms when we saw them hoping for Jumbos with red snouts from foraging in the silt. Did'nt find em monday. boy was that tough fishing in those east winds.
