    Default Trolling leader

Hello all forgive me for asking a question in this thread but not a lot of online traffic in the general discussion.. I run 12 or 14 pound mono for trolling bandits..is it necessary to run a 8 pound 6 foot leader to the bait or can I connect right to the lure? Thanks ahead of time

The only reason I can think of to put an 8# mono leader to heavier main line is to fool line-shy fish. That probably helps. However, why don't you just put a 12 or 14 pound fluorocarbon leader if you are worried about breakoffs? Fluorocarbon has proven time and again to be the death of line-shy fish - not every time, but offen enough to make it worth the while. Then while you are at it, switch your main 12 or 14# line to Hi-Vis color to make your fishing easier.
