Water temp
Hey all, what is the water temp out around the islands? Heading out tomorrow and trying to decide whether to stop and grab some nightcrawlers. Buoy's aren't in yet or at least not reporting.
Thanks!

Re: Water temp
55 degrees at the Marblehead Coast Guard Station. Temps will vary this time of year from a few degrees above a station reading in nearby shallower water or near rivermouths, to a few degrees below a station reading in deeper water or farther out in the Lake. There is also a thermocline, meaning in deeper water the top water temperature is much warmer than the bottom water temperature. The difference can be as much as 10+ degrees. I've seen it in late May / early June scuba diving where the bottom two or tree feet was way colder than the water just above it. 30 foot depth, 67 degrees at the surface, 65 the rest of the water coulmn until you got within three feet of the bottom and the bottom temp was 57.
As I always say, get a water themometer so you can get the water temp from the surface down to the bottom. Can help with locating where the walleye are likely to be.
