Western Basin Ice free
Ok, I have put my boat at the docks as early as March 15 , and was not able to fish for 30 days due to weather , mostly, high winds , and some honey do lists, anyway I think, this April 15th , or after that will be the best time to get the Water Dog to the dock.
Getting all the rods and tackle in shape,
Hope you can do the same,
be safe,
back soon,
Water Dog

Re: Western Basin Ice free
We are heading up from Cincinnati this weekend to put the boat in and “maybe” get out a bit. Just happy to be able to head north and get the boat, the dock, and the camper open for the season! Be careful out there. And let’s have a good season with some good fish and some good reports from each other!!

The wind forecast looks good for Sunday morning. Maybe some rain in the afternoon.
Showing high winds for Saturday.

Re: Western Basin Ice free
Gut pile report on those two 17 inch keeper walleye, nothing in the gut.
They were males , so usually when I catch them they like to squirt in April. So I thought maybe they were females, but no they are males. So is this normal or just a little early due to the weather and conditions ?
Any thoughts on this mater?

Feet Wet!
Looking north, the lake looks like very brown.
Will see what the SAT shows, but for now at the docks waiting for some changes to the brown soup.
Be safe,

Re: Western Basin Ice free
I was hoping to trailer to Cullen Park and jig walleyes in Maumee bay tomorrow or maybe over to the Davis Besse reefs. If the water is chocolate milk would I be better off fishing for trout in the ponds they have stocked in the westrern ohio areas if I want fish dinner?
