Launch a boat at Catawba Island State Park?
Anybody have any thoughts about launching a 36 foot with a 12 foot beam at catawba island state park? Upgraded to a bigger boat this year... Any feedback would be appreciated...

You won't have any issues. A couple years ago, they upgraded the launch, so the ramps are longer (the part in the water), and the piers are longer too.
Just remember to do the approach correctly, or you will have issues. They have a circle on the ground there for a reason.
When your turn comes, turn back in the direction of the parking lot....then, back up to the ramp. I see so many people doing it wrong, and end up having a hard time trying to back up.Captain Julia "Juls" Davis

Thank you Juls. Easier and quicker on the ramp than the lift in the marina….

Might be an issue backing something that long....the law may have an issue being way over max width for the highway. I would reconsider, or at least drive over and see for yourself...

I have the necessary permits to tow. I’m coming from PA. So you’re saying the marina is a bit tight? Didn’t look bad from google earth. Maybe I’ll stop by before I tie up.

Re: Launch a boat at Catawba Island State Park?
It's not a marina...just a launch with two long docks and a big cement pier that people fish from, off the end of it.
As I said, if you do the approach right, and you know how to back up a trailer, you won't have any issues there. The lanes are good and wide and very long.
But, it is a good idea to go check it out first, anyway....just so you can see what I'm talking about.
I've seen some pretty big boats launch from there, so if they can do it, so can you.
Just don't block it, because it gets very busy, very early there, in the spring, and you'll piss off a lot of people. lol
Best bet, is to launch there from late morning to early afternoon, when it is less busy.Captain Julia "Juls" Davis

I'd call one of the major marinas in Port Clinton or that area and ask them. Try Drawbridge Marina in Port Clinton. They will know where big boats typically go if they want to launch at a ramp. Or they may be able to give you the number of a marine transport company that works that area - they would know.
There are some photos of the Catawba ramp at the website below, launch ramps page. 6-8 years old, but the basic ramp area hasn't changed.
