10-5 G Can area
Crew of 3 fished here today, big emeralds from Jeanette’s. Slow pick all day, best single hour was 19 keepers. Did finally get 90. Really slowed down when the wind died, then eventually had a light North wind. Biggest fish that won the coveted big 1$ fish was 12.75”, actually 12.7/8” but was not big enough for 13”. 1/4” increments . 3 over 12, 7-11”s and lord knows how many 10”s. Mostly 9”-10” Will see how tomorrow goes……
Be safe out there!

Re: 10-5 G Can area
So on the 6th, crew of 4 fished same area again, bite started decent right away, but gradually died out to almost nothing as did the wind. The Perch quality was definitely not as good as the day before as the day progressed. So it was almost 1:30 when we decided to try a different spot. SW wind had picked up and the bite was on. Ended with 120 Perch, largest was 12.5". Filet weight from the catch on the 5th was just under 12#
Another beautiful day on the lake!

Re: 10-5 G Can area
Sounds like a good day for you. Why does the bite pick up when the picks up a little?

Re: 10-5 G Can area
The wind creates waves and ripples on the surface and that breaks up and dims the light from the sun.The fish prefer this broken up light to feed.

Re: 10-5 G Can area
I was explaining that same point the other day. I might add that the motion it creates moving your minnow up and down probably don't hurt either.

Re: 10-5 G Can area
Same thing happens when we troll for walleye. When the wind dies ,usually the catch rate goes down too. When we used to perch fish,it seamed when boat was bouncing up and down or swinging right and left the perch were more aggressive with the bite. When the wind died and boat was very still, those perch really bit light. That minnow was still and they had time to nibble off that minnow from the hook.Had alot of stripped perch rigs without feeling a thing.

Re: 10-5 G Can area
Water temps are dropping. I'll get up there one more time. Best perch fishing is yet to come. Double Jumbo's.
