    Default Perch on Fish Finder

What do perch look like on a fish finder? I always thought they were vertical “tick” marks on the bottom but I recently heard someone talking about how it can look like a “cloud” when they school up. I’ve been fishing over 10 years and never seen a “cloud” on the fish finder. Let me know if there is a best fish finder setting for spotting perch, thanks!

In 2015 and 2016 we done real good on perch off Ashtabula and Conneaut. The fish finder pictures shows perch under our boat and the action was up and down limit in 2 hours. Some times the perch will show as a horizontal line if they are not moving and you are at anchor.

Thanks for the info, I’ve seen that on my fish finder but didn’t realize they were perch. Sometimes I’ll see that 10-15 feet from the bottom, so would that be white perch?

That is what I typically see, something like that. But not that good!! That is a mess of perch.

I got a new Garmin and I have seen big schools of perch like that on my unit as well. I agree the bite is sporatic.

That's a whole bunch of perch. I've found them on the bottom in pretty big school's but not between 50 and 60 feet. That would be a gold mine.

Is that this year. Was also curious as to what area that was and month. I'll be up a few more times and will be looking for anything that resembles that. Appreciate the help. Thanks.

That's what I see on my new Garmin uhd63. Been having good marks every time I'm out, but the bite is very sporadic. It's frustrating when you see that under the boat and no bites. LoL

I usually perch fish east of G can or south of Green island. Has any where been best for you this year.
