I caught a big one a few years ago in front of the coast guard station at marblehead. I was casting a jig for smallies along the front breakwall. There were hundreds of gull resting above and they all decided to flush just as I made a long cast along the wall. the line went over one of them and pulled tight as it flew until it hooked him in the wing. Down he went in a heap. Reeled him in and threw a towel over him and removed the hook without harm. Tasted like chicken.
