    Default Walleye near the islands?

Anyone care to share some general information on where the walleye are around the islands? Havent fished for 2 weeks and last time out went to Border East of Kelly's. Boats were still going to the weather bouy at that time.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Fished about 2-3 miles east of Kelly's about a mile south of the boarder last week and did pretty well. I don't think you need to run clear to the buoy. Some boats starting to go back up the middle as well. Didn't try that myself.

New to trolling and just bought my boat at the end of last year and have not invested in additional rod holders. I only use the boats four rod holders that angle the rods to the stern. Same when I fish TT40's or Dipseys. I post the number of lines used to justify how good or bad I do fishing. Really appreciate your posts Capt Juls. Always Great information!

Ahhhh...gotcha. Little tidbits of info like that always do help...

The reason I asked is, because my customers, yesterday, said the guy in the motel room next to them insisted that the rod rule was still at two per person. My guys tried to correct him, but he was insistant that he was right and everyone else was breaking the law by running more lines than two per person.

I'm sure there are more out there that don't know the regs changed back in January.

Let us know how you do. I'm heading out Saturday. Would like to avoid fishing among 100 boats if possible.

Two of us fished 8/6 from 830-3pm. Started closer to Middle Bass island and trolled north to the bouy at Lucy's point. Some marks but could not catch any fish. Moved to East side of Gull Island Shoal and had a slow pick of Walleye with numerous sheephead and white bass mixed in. Finished with 6 in the box and 7 throwbacks. Our 6 fish were 22-26 inches . Also had one 12 1/2 inch perch. We fished mostly spoons and a Michigan stinger-Huckleberry(?) caught most of the fish. Purple and blue chrome were the other colors used. We fished 4 rods- 2 straight back with TT40's at 105 and 125. 2 #1 Dipsey's off the sides 70-90 back on 2 setting. Speed 2.4 to 2.9. We had good marks on the screen when we stayed in the deeper water 42-55 ft.

We did much better with bandits and weight and trolled East rather than North.
